This language enjoys most prestigious reputation in the world and has a special identity in the field of education. English Language Teaching Institute is one of the foremost centers of teaching and learning English in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The distinguished academic institute was conceived in December 1956 by British Council, New Delhi, with the financial assistance from Nuffield Foundation, a British charitable trust. It was taken over by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 1963 and later subsumed in the State Council of Educational Research and Training in September 1981. The institute has always encouraged the spirit of quality research coupled with quality teaching and has become a nucleus of teaching and learning English for teachers at different levels from Primary to higher secondary in the state.
